The AvSuper Trustee is pleased to announce the appointment of JANA Investment Advisers Pty Ltd as the Fund’s investment consultant with effect from July 2009. 

The appointment follows a benchmarking review of various investment consultants to potentially support AvSuper’s future investment consulting needs.  There was strong interest from the investment consulting community in providing services to AvSuper with ten proposals received.  JANA was selected from a final shortlist which included the incumbent, Russell Investments, in addition to Watson Wyatt and CPG Research and Advisory.

JANA is a large Australian investment consulting firm, established in 1987.  Their core business is and always has been the provision of investment consulting services to super funds.  They have a flexible and supporting consulting approach which harnesses the collective wisdom of an experienced and capable team focussed on research and advice which will support AvSuper’s current robust investment and risk management framework.

AvSuper regularly reviews key outsourcing arrangements to ensure that the quality and depth of services remains optimal to ensure the best interest of AvSuper members are served, and in this instance JANA’s investment consulting model was found to be the best fit for AvSuper.
