Happy new year, and welcome to your latest member update!

We are starting the new year with a simplified format for our member updates – we hope you like it!

As always, we appreciate hearing from our members so if you have any feedback on these updates – the format, things you want included and so on – please get in touch and let us know.

It is looking like 2019 will be a busy year in superannuation and we will endeavour to keep you informed and help you navigate the best possible outcomes for your retirement savings.

--- ROYAL COMMISSION REPORT ---
On Monday 4 February, the report from the Hayne Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry was released to the public.

The report contains 76 recommendations, some of which will impact on superannuation.

We are now reviewing the report and considering implications for AvSuper and our members, and will provide an update for you in the coming days.

--- VIEW STATEMENTS ONLINE ---
Avoiding paper super statements is one way to reduce clutter – and AvSuper statements can be viewed online as long as you are a member.

Did you know you can choose to get your annual statement and annual report electronically so you can get it quicker and save paper? Just log into Member Online to check your preferences.

And, while you’re there, remember to update your contact details so we can send your annual statement to you and keep you informed.

Are you thinking about estate planning?

One of the first steps in estate planning is to think about who your beneficiaries are, and how you want to distribute your assets to them. Our fact sheet comparing reversionary beneficiaries and nominating your estate is a good place to start the process, and our member advice consultants can help you with nominating your income stream beneficiaries.
