David Leggo has announced his intention to retire from the AvSuper Board and his role as Chairman of the AvSuper Fund, following 18 years of service to Fund members.
“My 18 years at AvSuper, working with people with a high standard of professionalism and a great sense of mission in caring for other people’s superannuation, have been among the most fulfilling of my working life. I am grateful to the Board, staff and three excellent Chief Executive Officers for the support readily given over the years,” Mr. Leggo said.
David’s passion for superannuation and his vast aviation industry experience has been an enormous benefit for AvSuper. David has been a part of the AvSuper Board of Directors for most of its soon to be celebrated 20 year history. He became the Chairman of the Investment Committee in 1993, and has been Chairman of the Board since 1995.
During his tenure, he has driven the process for AvSuper’s growth from a fund of $27 million employing three balanced fund managers, to the sophisticated $1 billion multi-manager superannuation fund of today.
We have been honoured by his leadership and respect the decision he has reached – he will be greatly missed by the AvSuper Board of Directors and by the Management team.
